Remote Start Installation in Canandaigua, NY
Professional Compustar remote start, DroneMobile smartphone control, and factory-style vehicle integration from a shop that has installed remote starters since 1996.
Installed right, not just installed
Remote starts are not all installed the same
Most customers shop by brand, range, and price. Those matter — but they are not what makes a remote start dependable. The real order of importance is installation quality first, vehicle integration second, and hardware third.
Installation quality
The single biggest factor in how well a remote start works and how long it lasts. The best system installed poorly is still a poor install.
Vehicle interface & integration
Using the correct vehicle-specific interface so the system works with your vehicle and keeps factory behavior intact.
Remote start hardware & brand
The hardware matters — but it comes after a clean install and the right integration, not before.
The brand matters. The installation matters more.
Craftsmanship
The work you don’t see is the work that matters
A remote start is something most customers never see after installation. You press the button, the vehicle starts, and the system quietly does its job. That is exactly the point. The hidden work behind the dash is what determines whether the system feels reliable for years.
Select Technologies bench-preps wiring, routes harnesses carefully with factory wiring where possible, protects wiring with sleeve or tubing where appropriate, and avoids shortcut methods that can lead to problems later.
If another professional ever looks under the dash, our goal is simple: the install should be clean enough that they either barely notice it or respect the work.

Advanced & specialty options
Beyond a standard remote start
When a vehicle or goal calls for more, we evaluate it honestly and quote it case-by-case. We will tell you what your specific vehicle supports.
Two-way / extended range
For customers who want confirmation that the vehicle started or need longer real-world range. Quoted case-by-case.
Manual-transmission evaluation
Select manual-transmission vehicles can be evaluated — not all are accepted. When compatible, manual-transmission remote start typically requires additional parts, labor, and safety procedures and may add around $150–$200.
European / specialty vehicles
We can evaluate remote start for vehicles many shops turn away, including select Mercedes, BMW, Volkswagen, Volvo, Range Rover, and other European/specialty models. These are case-by-case quotes because integration requirements vary by vehicle.
Security, GPS, app & camera paths
Remote start can be the front door to app alerts, GPS-style features, alarm/security, and compatible camera paths. We keep recommendations practical and matched to your vehicle.
Why Select Technologies
A remote start lane built on reputation, not coupons
Installing remote starters since 1996 with a strong local reputation, professional install standards, vehicle-specific interface knowledge, and clean integration that respects your vehicle.

Frequently asked questions
How much does remote start installation cost?
Many traditional key-start vehicles fit our Alliance Package, typically $330 plus tax. Most newer push-button-start vehicles use our Power Package, typically $420 plus tax. Some vehicles, manual-transmission applications, two-way/extended-range systems, DroneMobile, and European/specialty vehicles may change the quote.
Can you install remote start on push-button-start vehicles?
Yes, for many push-button-start vehicles. For most newer push-button-start vehicles, Select Technologies uses our Power Package because it is the proper integration approach, not an optional upsell.
Why is the Power Package required for many push-button-start vehicles?
Modern push-button-start vehicles often require a more vehicle-specific interface approach to retain factory behavior and integrate cleanly. We do not downgrade the install just to chase a lower price when the vehicle calls for the Power Package.
What is DroneMobile?
DroneMobile adds smartphone control and expanded convenience for compatible remote start systems. It can support app-based control and additional features depending on the vehicle, hardware, and subscription level.
Does DroneMobile require a subscription?
Yes. The installed hardware cost is separate from the DroneMobile subscription. The customer chooses the appropriate subscription through DroneMobile.
Can you install remote start on manual-transmission vehicles?
Some manual-transmission vehicles can be evaluated, but not all are accepted. Manual applications require additional parts, setup, and safety procedures, and usually cost more when compatible.
Can you install remote start on Mercedes, BMW, Volkswagen, Volvo, or Range Rover?
We can evaluate remote start for many European and specialty vehicles that other shops turn away, including select Mercedes, BMW, Volkswagen, Volvo, and Range Rover models. Because integration requirements vary widely by vehicle, these are quoted case-by-case after we confirm the details of your specific vehicle.
Will remote start hurt my vehicle?
Not when it is installed correctly. We treat every vehicle like it is our own — professional connection methods, vehicle-specific interfaces where appropriate, less unnecessary wiring, and factory behavior retained wherever possible. A proper install is clean, reliable, and designed to leave your vehicle working the way it should.
What information do you need before quoting?
Year, make, and model; whether it is push-button or traditional key start; automatic or manual; how many working keys or remotes you have; and what you want it to do — remote-only, smartphone control, two-way confirmation, security, GPS, or camera options. Also let us know about any warning lights, electrical issues, an aftermarket alarm, a prior remote start, or known wiring modifications.
